Betty Harris has been involved with test prep since 1996, when she helped to establish the Carroll ISD Premier SAT/PSAT Academy. During her 8 year tenure as director of this program, average SAT scores in the Carroll district rose from 1048 in 1995 to 1118 in 2003, and the number of students sitting for the test increased from 155 to 470. While developing and directing the Academy, Mrs. Harris also taught 11th grade AP English and served as a testing consultant throughout the state of Texas, helping school districts initiate programs of their own and training teaching staff in testing strategies. Since her retirement from classroom teaching in 2003, she has devoted her time to research and test prep program development to help her TestWise students meet the demands placed on them by the new SAT and the ACT.

Mrs. Harris received her B.A. degree from the University of Illinois and her M.Ed. in Administration from Prairie View A & M University. She has 37 years of teaching experience and 12 years experience as a test prep consultant. She has received numerous awards including being named Teacher of the Year by Midway High School, Carroll Senior High School, Carroll I.S.D., and Region XI, and being nominated for Texas Teacher of the Year in 2001.

Kathryn Dobrow, currently teaching AP Calculus and pre-AP calculus at Carroll Senior High School, is the TestWise math curriculum consultant and math instructor. She has been involved in test prep since 2000, when she accepted the position of lead math instructor in the Carroll ISD Premier SAT/PSAT Academy.

Since that time, she has served as a testing consultant throughout the state of Texas and has helped many school districts initiate programs to enable their students to increase scores on the College Boards. She has developed a phenomenal math curriculum for TestWise, which has proven to be effective for countless students.

Mrs. Dobrow earned her B.A. in mathematics at Texas A & M University in College Station. She has 11 years of teaching experience and 8 years experience as a test prep consultant.

Katherine Langford has been involved with preparing students of the SAT & PSAT since 2002, when she joined the staff of the Carroll ISD Premier SAT/PSAT Academy. She currently teaches 12th grade AP English at Carroll Senior High School and serves as the UIL Academic Coach for literary criticism, spelling, and ready writing. In addition to her teaching and coaching, Katherine is actively involved in curriculum development for CISD.

Mrs. Langford earned her B.S. at Texas Christian University and her M.A. at North Texas State University. She brings to TestWise 37 years of classroom experience and 6 years experience in teaching students to perform well on the writing portion of the SAT and PSAT.

Lisa Salyer, currently English Department Chairperson at Carroll Senior High School and 11th grade AP English teacher, joined the TestWise staff in the summer of 2008. Mrs. Salyer has 23 years of teaching experience and has spent the past 13 years preparing students for the AP English exam. She has served as a grader for both the English AP test and the SAT essay, which is part of the writing portion of the SAT. She holds a B.A. in English, German, and Government and an M.A. in English.




Dinah Afsahi has been working with students in vocabulary development for her entire career. She retired from her position as Foreign Language Department Chairperson at Carroll Senior High School at the end of the 2007-08 school year. She joined the staff of the Carroll ISD Premier SAT/PSAT Academy in 1998 as the lead vocabulary teacher and also served as an SAT vocabulary consultant; helping teachers throughout the state of Texas develop programs to prepare their students for the College Boards. She will join TestWise again in the summer of 2009 to teach the vocabulary classes in SAT/PSAT Boot Camp.
